Past: In the elder days, when the world of Man was still young, the Sidhe were the guardians of nature and the keepers of peace in the realms outside of human understanding. For many ages, the fair folk dwelled in the twilight around human civilisation, accepting offerings from the denizens of towns and cities in order to protect them from the supernatural enemies all around them. Times changed, though. As did Man. Eventually, the world of the fair folk receeded, replaced by man's machines. One by one they died, surrendering to their fate of oblivion at the unknowing hands of modern day man.
Alesta is the reincarnation of one of these spirits, Naphae, guardian of the hills and valleys. She grew up to loving parents, was moderately popular at school and soon hit puberty. When her body began going through these changes, she found that not only was her body adapting to being an adult, but also the spirit residing within her began to place its own changes upon her form.
One day when she was returning home from school, Alesta spotted a man being mugged in an alleyway. Instead of doing the 'sensible' thing and staying away and calling the police, Alesta felt a sudden rush of anger at such an injustice, feeling herself surge forwards at the two men mugging the other. In an instant, one of the men was flying across the alleyway after taking a fierce blow from the schoolgirl. Then she saw the other turn his knife upon her. She gasped in terror for just a moment before she saw his knife breaking upon her skin. Soon the two men were unconcious and she was once more walking home, newly discovered powers causing wonderment to flutter around in her mind.
Now, Alesta does whatever she can to protect those she must in the city of Epitome, knowing that further terrors lay within the streets and parks. She must defend this new world of Man - it is her destiny to do so
