Well, I was up entirely too long last night, chatting with various people as well as the leads. A lot of stuff came up, and some shit definitely got sorted I see. First off, the new forums look great. Very clean, very nice look on the front.

An issue that was generally agreed on last night(though likely not a total consensus) was that EC is feeling a bit… Slow. This is not to say there isn't a lot of great roleplaying on, you guys are doing awesome. But, at least to me, I think the general feeling was that a lot of it tends not to go anywhere but a bedroom. Now, the leads have been cooking up some nifty little overarching plots of their own, and we'll begin to see the first seeds of those soon enough in GM-run events. But I wanna hear what you guys, the common Joes and Janes, want to see in EC. Consider this a suggestion box. This could be setting or story suggestions, minor gripes about the rules(don't blow things like that huge in this thread, though, make your own), just any general things that you think would be cool and genuinely benefit EC.

You never know, I might agree, and get a mind to do something about it with you!

I think part of this problem might stem from how EC is set currently, or at least flavored by the character.

Racism, fear, class warfare: these are real life issues that are a great font to tap when it comes to generating conflict. In EC however, supers are taken at face value. There is no -reason- to hide behind a secret identity, and this takes some of the grief out of being a super. Fear should be a motivator too. I feel like supers are looked at as 'out of the ordinary' and 'cool', but, honestly, think about it, supers are essentially always armed with what amounts to an automatic rifle, if not much more. Teachers at schools should be harder on supers than normal people. There should be shop owners that discriminate against them because they don't want the inevitable trouble having supers around attracts.

This isn't to say the whole world should hate or fear supers, but, a good chunk of the population, -should- fall prey to natural emotions when it comes to dealing with someone that isn't only different, but inherently dangerous.

Aside from that, I notice we have a bunch of high-school age players. But, honestly, they're played like they're already out and about at college! How many parents have you seen? How many rules? What about cops, trying to arrest delinquent kids?

These are all the seeds of conflict, and conflict is the backbone of story. We need to sow these seeds in EC, else it becomes just another place to meet people for long, hot dickings.

I remember mentioning during a roleplaying session that during Will's Sophomore year(two years ago), six separate murders of students occurred, all of them related to the Super/Mundane divide. I think I said that four instances were Supers being murdered, the other two Mundanes. The sixth was one of Will's best friends. That's as far as I think I got into that. ECHS probably stepped things up after that and kicked in a strong anti-bullying and protections program, sort of what high schools nationwide started doing after Columbine.

I know Tabby/Cat for one has gone out of her way to try and keep her normal life and her super life separate. She is very much scared that it will get out, that she'll be persecuted in some way, or that her loved ones will be hurt by it. Recently however two people have learned of her identity, one of them trusted more than the other and it's really got her on edge.

I do understand the slowness comment you mentioned though, and I think Jessica has made that a tad better with her little event, and (whoever did the murder I forget) but for the most part I haven't seen stuff going on. Now, I'm not just giving an issue, I'm working on a bit of a solution myself. I've got a little event in the process, I think it'll end up being an average one, where it stretches out across quite a few events, and I hope it'll spark others to get in and do some events. I'm hoping if things go right, my event won't really ever end, and I could get people who want to help me with it run little parts themselves. So, happy RPing.

A bit of action here and there does well for the soul. So I thrown myself into the ring, and sewing in a plot in as well. Certain seemingly random events that I hope will lead up to something bigger, depending on characters reactions.
