Past: Jessica worked as a part time secretary for Rowell industries and was decent, but not amazing, at her job. Recently, one of her boss' side projects finished its alpha testing on a program meant to replicate living tissue and, for a short period, showed potential to be able to perform instantainious cloning. It had shown success in its tests upon a number of test soldiers but, as always, the corporate bosses wanted to push the technology.
A second initiative, completed months earlier, had been meant to augment the speed and strength of soldiers, but had proved too costly to impliment in sufficient numbers, so the decision was quickly made to attempt to replicate someone wearing the suit. With deadlines past and budgets cut, it was decided to bypass preliminary testing and simply go to a human subject since both the suit and the animals had been successful.
Needless to day, Jessica was selected for the test dummy, and the expiriment wasn't a complete success. While they succeeded in replicating both the suit and the girl, the electronic nodes that had been fused with key nerves within the suit ultimately overheated and scalded Jessica's nervous system, destroying and rerouting much of her sensory system.
Jessica, as much as she was, stopped existing that day, and was left with a new identity… it still knew itself as Jessica but had no true connections with that name, it could split itself at will but would always be slightly broken… unsure of itself or its place in the world. Her last name was not initially Rowell, but her ID card simply said "Rowell Industries" at the top and "Jessica" next to her name, so it is as close as she can figure.
