The parents of this poor, poor boy decided they wanted to be Elves, and, with the surgeries available to them? Began to forcibly transform themselves into this ideology.
Then Kevin was Born, you see, Kevin, he was a mutant, from his Father's, Father's, Father's side- from the Enola Gay incident in world war two. His mutations were beneficial; two hearts, a tougher circulatory system, higher muscle and bone density, and? To further it, faster healing than most would ever dream of.
His parents were disgusted that they birthed a dwarf.
Throughout his childhood he was mocked for looking small and weak, mocked for being made up in his 'elf' clothing.
And then they forced him to undergo the surgery. They had his ears forcibly shaped to be like an elf's, forcibly changed. He didn't want this, he cried, he attempted to flee; but his mother wouldn't allow it. And even after he had those ridiculous 'elf' ears? He was still not their model son.
He did however find solace in baseball, he was faster than the other kids, stronger too. This was what kept him sane, and he even earned the name 'Shortstop' during his middleschool time. And now? He's going to highschool- and he's gonna try out for Varisty! NOT!
Well, he would have- save his parents decided on a pilgrammage that cost him his entire Highschool Career; forcing him into the role of being some fastfood-jockey and attempt to get some money scraped together since his family was decidedly less than sane.

Shortstop, aka Kevin, was at his job at Hot Topic and watched some rather pretty girls fumble around like complete morons and attempt to spy on one another. It made him wonder why his store always collected lesbians but this was cut short after the girl who bought all the stuff basically ran for cover when a villain attacked the mall.
After missing twice and then striking the villain solidly the cunt licker ran away- deciding instead to leave a badly wounded werebear, or a shapeshifter in Kevin's eyes, a lot of collateral and all that. He then caught and interrogated one of the mooks, getting the name 'Seraph' and 'A mysterious woman with Red Eyes', not very helpful, so he demasked after the police took them away. Before that, while he was interrogating, a babe said he was being bad even though the man had taken hostages and opened fire on civilians. He explained himself and offered to get her a slushy.
She left to talk to her dad.
Meanwhile, he closed the store early and was going to go practice some swings when he got a call from Hart, he met her at a 7-11 and Crashed into the wall bodily; before buying her a slushy; and learning about her powers. He told her only a couple of his and didn't elaborate on the rest. She wants to Sidekick for him now after a talk in the park and some swings. He feels touched but wants to talk to her mom and dad about it first.

So, shorty, chillaxing relaxing inside of a Pizza Parlor, was called by his good friend, and soon to be Sidekick Hart- now, it was gonna be awesome, she got a new friend. But you know what?
