Her appearance matches the image, with the following exceptions:
- She typically wears a black, buttonless coat that goes down to her ankles and just past her wrists.
- Vesper is an even five feet tall, and looks about 16-17 years old (i.e. younger than she actually is; something she's not happy about).
In this form, her weapon is a long-hafted axe; it's basically a black metal staff as tall as she is, with a thick, curved axe-like blade at the top, with a dark red gem set in the center of that blade. Despite its apparent purpose, the 'blade' actually has a rounded edge.

The source of Suzuka's powers, Spinel Heart is a pale blue-green gemstone carved in an elaborate cut. It's normally kept as the centerpiece in a silver locket she wears. It's large enough to be comfortably held in one hand.

In addition to its black color scheme and dark red central gem, the staff's decorative head is replaced by a curved axe-like blade, though the 'blade' itself is too rounded to actually cut; on the other hand, it will deliver more force on impact.

Suzuka is the youngest of three children to a Japanese mother and American father. Her family was quite nice, and thoroughly normal.
When Suzuka was eight, while walking through a forest park she discovered a magical gem on the path in front of her. No sooner had she picked it up than her hometown came under attack by a giant amphibious squid monster! The stone spoke to her, and told her to use its power to save her friends, which she did, transforming into the magical girl Shining Ruby!
Thus, her life became much like something out of a comic or cartoon series. She got a break from the magical girling when she was sent overseas to study as an exchange student in Germany, a country plagued by fewer monster attacks. On the other hand, the reason for that year overseas was her parents going through a divorce. They split up on reasonably good terms, and came to an agreement which Suzuka had no say in but was fairly unhappy with: she'd spend one year with her mother in Japan, then one with her father in America, and so forth, alternating between countries.
However, while magical girls are meant to be symbols of incredible purity and altruism, that kind of power and burden only naturally results in a temptation to misuse it, as well as feelings of loneliness, insecurity, frustration, and resentment. Every time she transformed, all those kinds of feelings that resulted from her magical status were bled off, and gradually formed a second personality within her own mind.
That personality gained the ability to access her magical powers itself, becoming the dark magical girl Vesper Mimosa. Suzuka is aware of Vesper Mimosa's existence, and is frustrated that she's never been able to catch the villainness; she does not realize that she is that person.
Vesper, on the other hand, is painfully aware of their connection, and that she is the parts of Suzuka's personality that "weren't good enough" or "didn't deserve" the power she received. Suzuka's magical gem is very much aware of this situation, but has chosen not to reveal it to her.
Most recently, Suzuka has moved to Epitome City to continue her studies, as well as her fight against the forces of darkness! She currently works as a student-teacher at Epitome High School, already in her second year of college. When not working, studying, or fighting (or causing!) evil, she likes to frequent karaoke clubs around the city.

A dead student was found collapsed in the woods behind the school. The PCs briefly investigated. Myth's magical dowsing, with heavy backup from other people, concluded that there was a magic, possibly soul-stealing, book involved.

Vesper Mimosa was recruited by Alex Crowley to steal a book for her.
Unicorn ran an event.
Reaper-people broadcast a public execution on TV. Afterwards, there was rioting! Ruby saw the leader (maybe!) in person! And got thrown into a wall, ow.
Archie ran an event!
A news van in the city was attacked by demons. Supers showed up to fight them, proceeded to fight more demons inside a bar, proceeded to find a portal that led to some alter-world with, again, more demons inside of it.
The event was placed on hold partway through.
Unicorn ran an event.
Reapers paraded through the city, and mind-controlled Kevin Wong briefly. Ruby lectured Zerimiah on the finer points of not killing people.

Demons were beaten, Kevin trolled a demon lord pretty hardcore with a riddle game (which was totally Ruby's idea, despite her minimal contributions to the game itself). People escaped, after rescuing Ward.

Alex Crowley brought Valicent back to his apartment (for a HOT YAOI DATE). Vesper met them there and the three briefly talked business.

Giant magical mechas attacked the city. A bunch of heroes (including Ruby, Alex Crowley, Zerimiah, Kevin Wong, Athena, Naya, and Rhazul) fought them off! It was hard. =/
1730 - 1900
Ruby and Ward healed Zerimiah in the aftermath of the mecha attack. Gabe, Zerimiah, and Ruby almost went out for a meal together, 'til Zerimiah went psycho on Gabe! OH NO! People parted ways after that.

A giant magical robot attacked the city in the middle of a thunderstorm. A bunch of people helped blow it up. Crowley did some jury-rigged ritual to shut down its thunderstorm, yay.
